Recently it’s been Pi Day and with my mathematics background, the date was reason enough to celebrate it properly
There are studies about how role models and important people (like teachers or relatives) influence children and teens to go into STEM fields. I consider myself one of these influenced teens and now, grown up and in STEM education, I can totally relate to those studies. When my mathematics teacher during my High School exchange year came to school on Pi Day, bringing us pie and wanting to celebrate the day, I could really see the enthusiasm and joy she felt for her subject. I feel the same way today, so I guess this must have been one of those moments. There were so many more of those but the memory of my first Pi Day celebration still sparks that enthusiasm.
